ACider is one of the world’s oldest drinks, with a heritage dating back at least 2,000 years. It formed an integral part of the landscape, economy and culture of many rural parts of the UK for centuries before latterly being commoditised by industrial scale production.
CAMRA was established to celebrate the old heritage of brewing and beer styles in the face of an avalanche of ‘boring’ keg lagers. It has demonstrated great success over the last nigh on 50 years, with cider also forming part of its remit since the late 80s.
Now is the time for CAMRA to produce a cider guide that sheds light on the incredible diversity that exists within cider in the UK today.
