The Campaign for Real Ale is one of the largest and most successful consumer rights groups operating in the UK today, but it wasn’t always that way.
Founded by four friends in 1971, to preserve traditional cask-conditioned beer, the Campaign’s membership passed the 130,000 mark during its fortieth year, and is still growing healthily.
CAMRA at 40 is a celebration of this history, reflecting the Campaign’s breadth, the variety of views about its work and an assessment of how it might need to evolve.
